The charming coastal town of Montanita, situated in the province of Santa Elena and just a short 180 kilometers northwest of Guayaquil is known for its great surf and beautiful multi-cultural beach.

Surfing is by far the quaint villages main tourist draw. The waters offer powerful and consistent waves that make great tubes and are nice for both experienced and novice surfers. During the summer, the waves reach around 0.3 to 1 meters in height. In late fall and in winter, the height picks up to about 1.5 meters. The most powerful and dangerous surf point is located at "La Punta." Here experienced surfers can find an amazing swell.

After a great surf session, the main center of Montanita offers guests fun restaurants, bars, hotels and a few shops. Here you can experience a range of cuisines ranging from Peruvian, French, Tai, Israeli, Argentine and of course scrumptious Ecuadorian food. Hola Ola Cafe is an all time favorite.
Whether you have come for the waves or the beach, there is no doubt that you will fall in love with this amazing Ecuadorian surf town. Come and enjoy this wonderful multicultural destination.
